Well firstly, a little bit of history. Crochetta started off over 25 years ago sourcing and developing quality hand made scarves, hats and other kinds of accessories from all over Europe, but mainly Italy. The name Crochetta doesn’t actually mean anything in Italian as some may think  but is a play on the word ‘crochet’ (which is actually French for ‘hook’), the crafty art that was at its height of popularity in the 60’s/70’s (think those skimpy crochet bikinis!). Over the years the product has expanded introducing different bits and pieces to keep up with ever-changing trends and customer demand.
In late 2006, after a small jaunt as a photographer, freelance designer, maker of things found on the beach or in the bush and quite a few years in the retail industry, I had the opportunity to expand my horizons and take over the Crochetta label. So the last 3 and a bit years have been quite a journey in which myself, with the help of a very trusty team, has seen the label organically evolve into something really special. We still pride ourselves in sourcing and developing quality product from all around the globe (we even still work with a couple of the old-school hat makers from Italy that maintain the hand weave method!), staying on top of the trends and keeping our product fresh and unique. Expanding and developing our race wear and fascinator collections have been a highlight during this time, with the emphasis on ‘affordable millinery’. We are constantly thinking of ways to bring you creative styles that are unique and affordable. Our inspiration comes from everything around us…nature, people, music, where we went on our last holiday, the way our experiences and our environment make us feel… these things all come together to conjure up new and intriguing collections.
